Product Lifecycle

We begin the design process by looking at a product as if for the first time. We explore each object with a boundless curiosity and a firm understanding of its function and lifecycle. We endeavor to establish a product’s lifespan and design its materials, production method and disposal/recycling accordingly. We constantly work to close the loop on materials to ensure our products stay out of landfills and inside the materials sphere.

All our designs are put through our Design Cycle to best understand all aspects of the function, design, production, materials and end-of-life scenarios. Environmental and End-of-Life issues are considered up front in the design process.

Our Research

Our staff is continually researching materials, methods, systems and processes to make sure we understand all elements involved with our products. Our design process requires that our solutions be built on solid research and not pseudo solutions. We regularly visit municipal and private recycling systems to confirm our products stay within the material loop. We exhaustively research white papers and interview experts involved with innovative materials and manufacturing methods to confirm our product is the most ecological and sustainable possible. Our research brings us in contact with unusual and new materials, which we substitute for more commonly used more toxic or un-recyclable materials. And we test our products to make sure they perform in commercial settings and can stand up to the rigors of everyday use.
