Greenheart Bags

The GreenHeart Bag is a recent breakthrough product for Ditto. It’s an elegant combination of 80% starch-based PLA (polylactic acid) with 20% PE (polyethylene). The GreenHeart Bag is a unique product which offers an environmental replacement to the ubiquitous “poly bag”. This blendable grade is designed to offer a high level of mechanical strength, outstanding elongation properties, higher heat tolerances, toughness, sustainable materials and good decomposition rates.

A mind boggling 4-5 trillion polyethylene plastic bags are sold every year, of which only a miniscule 0.6 percent are recycled. Americans throw away some 100 billion polybags every year leaching dangerous toxins into our drinking water. The issue is so severe that the US House of Representatives is introducing a 5-cent surcharge on single use plastic bags (Plastic Bag Reduction Act of 2009).
